The Armadale Line Transformation project rebuilt Armadale Station as an elevated station and removed level crossings along the corridor, complementing the separate METRONET Byford Rail Extension immediately to the south, which added a new station beyond Armadale on the same line. The $1 billion Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade, a 14km, four-lane extension timed to complement the rail works, is due for completion in late 2028 and is expected to carry more than 60,000 vehicles a day once complete.
